Listowel Report (Sunday)
Barry Geraghty maintained his good recent run of form when completing a double aboard Inch Supreme and Awa-O-Te-Koa at Listowel yesterday as the three-day meeting drew to a close.
Geraghty deputised for Ruby Walsh on the Liam Burke-trained Inch Supreme in division one of the Island Maiden Hurdle, drawing clear approaching the last to beat Isefoul De Bellevue by ten lengths.
Walsh expects to be back in action for the start of the big Fairyhouse Festival tomorrow (Tuesday) after giving up a full book of rides yesterday. The champion-elect, 12 clear of Geraghty on the 73 winner mark in the title race, is reported 'sore' after a heavy fall from Enrique at Ayr on Saturday.
Geraghty teamed up for a double with trainer Tom Taaffe here on Friday, and they again combined to land the Rover Handicap Hurdle with Awa-O-Te-Koa. The six-year-old led at the last to beat Sharon's Touch by three lengths.
Joe Casey rode out his claim in the opening Triton Showers Maiden Hurdle where Oneofthesimpsons relished the very testing conditions to beat Barnawee Bridge by 20 lengths. An amazing 15 of the 20 runners were pulled up in this three miles stamina test as the rain-soaked ground took its toll.
Killarney chemist Donie Sheahan celebrated his 75th birthday in style when his colours were carried to success by the well-backed favourite Dromhale Lady in the Tanavalla Beginners Chase.
