Review LISTOWEL 21ST APR

Listowel Report (Saturday)

Dermot Weld brought his tally to five winners on Saturday when supplementing his treble at the Curragh with the victories of Theatregoer and Beyond Borders at Listowel.

Christine Walsh, whose twin sister Julie partnered the John Mulhern-trained Ostarrichi to win at Leopardstown last year, recorded her first success in the saddle aboard newcomer Beyond Borders in the Kerry Spring Water Apprentice Maiden. The American bred colt touched off Lisselan Fairways by a head, with Environment just half a length back in third.

Orlando Kelly (18) doubled his Irish tally when the free-running Theatregoer made most in the opening Kerry Maid Maiden to beat Definite Best by four and a half lengths.

David Casey and Limerick trainer Charles Byrnes were also in double form, combining to take the featured Dawn Milk Handicap Chase with Sunset Lodge. The nine-year-old gelding made virtually to beat To Your Honour by a comfortable eight lengths, with Dorans Pride a onepaced 15 lengths further back in third. 'He loves that soft ground, and will go for the Swordlestown Cup Novice Chase at Fairyhouse on Thursday', said Byrnes.

Dorans Pride is likely to turn out again in the Powers Gold Label Tote Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on Wednesday, with Michael Hourigan commenting: 'It is difficult to give away two stone in that ground'.

Casey had to earn his fee when hard at work throughout the mile Dawn Fresh Cream Handicap on the Willie Mullins-trained Casas, getting up on the line to deny Pip'n Judy.

Byrnes completed his own double when Shallee benefited from a last flight blunder by Earlshill Song to take the Low Low Handicap Hurdle under Ross Geraghty.
