Review LISTOWEL 17TH APR

The Gerry Keane-trained Sue N Win annihilated the opposition by making all of the running in the 2m maiden hurdle at a sparsely-attended Listowel this afternoon.

Sue N Win gave a superb display of hurdling with Paul Carberry easing clear on the bottomless terrain to beat Regatta Point by 12L.

' She has always shown plenty and hopefully, there are more days in her, ' remarked Keane Of Sue N Win, who also won a bumper at this same venue last September.

The Declan Gillispie-trained Sudden Silence vindicated the promise of her fine second-placed effort at Leopardstown last month by landing the opening 3yo maiden. Jamie Spencer sent the Lady O'Reilly-owned filly to the front before half-way to deny Cold Cold Woman by 4L.

Gillespie went onto complete a double when Tackcoat obliged in the 1st div of the 1m handicap with Mick Kinane. The reigning champion brought Tackcoat through to lead 50 yards out to repel Truscott by 3/4L.

' He's still the best, ' said Gillespie of Kinane. Meanwhile, Kinane described the conditions as the worst that he had ever ridden on.

Liam Burke's Coolnahilla gained due reward for hias consistency by landing the 2 1/2m handicap chase. Coolnahilla produced a fantastic leap at the second last with him duly easing clear under Keith Hadnett to account for Jasmin D'Oudairies by 20L.

' Keith said how he could have gone around again, ' reported Burke. ' He is a different horse on heavy ground and he will win a decent race some day. '

Shane Hassett (16) partnered his first winner aboard his guvnor Tommy Stack's Hollow Quaill in the 3yo auction maiden. Hollow Quaill stormed to the front 150 yards out to score by 8L.

' Shane is a good rider, but he is very big and he won't be at the flat too long, ' said Stack. ' He could be the next Tony McCoy! '

Declan O'Shea, the 1992 champion apprentice, partnered his first winner of the season aboard 20/1 shot Weet And See, who paid odds of 46/1 on the Tote, in the 2nd div of the 1m handicap. Weet And See is trained by Pat O'Keeffe and incidentally this was the Churchtown handler's initial success on the flat.

The Pat Hughes-trained Welcome Sunset sluiced home with Ian Power in the 2m handicap hurdle, the duo beating top-weight Knockanure Lad by 8L.

' He stays two and a half miles which gave him a chance of getting home here, ' reported Hughes. ' He is in again at Gowran Park on Wednesday. '

There were several absentees in the bumper ( including Moscow Flyer's own-sister Blooming Quick) with victory ultimately going to the Jessica Harrington-trained newcomer Stanafoss.
