Ruby Walsh's relentless accumulation of winners continued apace at Galway yesterday as he partnered a treble at Ballybrit.
Highlight of the trio was the hurdling debut of smart bumper horse Pedrobob, who had few problems landing the Galway Bay FM Maiden Hurdle.
Walsh sent the Tony Mullins-trained gelding to the fore after the third last and he asserted from the penultimate hurdle to record a stylish four-and-a-half length verdict over Royal Approval.
'He'll go for another novice hurdle and should learn a bit more there,' said Mullins. 'He keeps surprising me as he's improving faster than I imagine. He's been in since February so will need a break at some stage.'
Sorry Al had got the ball rolling in the opening Ryans Event Cleaners Novice Hurdle when making all the running and staying on well to beat Merry Star by four lengths.
Walsh once again displayed what a great judge of pace he is when coming from behind on Mountain Snow in the Cunningham Higgins Cars Handicap Hurdle.
He produced Willie Mullins' gelding to lead at the final flight and the pair went on to score by a length-and-a-half from Amisina.
Walsh took the mount on Mountain Snow despite being shaken up after a fall from Valshan in the previous race. He stood himself down for the day following his third victory.
Barry Geraghty was also 'in the wars' and stood himself down following a fall from Thunder Road in the Cunningham Higgins Cars Handicap Hurdle.
A great leap at the second last propelled front-runner Rocking Ship to success in the feature race - the Smirnoff Handicap Chase.
He was challenged by Golden Storm before the penultimate fence but Joey Elliott conjured a big jump from the Leading Counsel gelding and he went on to beat that rival by three-and-a-half lengths.
