Review DOWN ROYAL 3RD SEP

Dermot Weld, who recorded doubles at Downpatrick and Clonmel earlier this week, repeated the dose when Amid The Chaos and King Of Tory scored at Down Royal yesterday.

Amid The Chaos (11/10f) made all for a comfortable victory in the Premier Sports Management Hurdle. Ruby Walsh asked his mount to leave his rivals on the run to the third last and the pair eased down approaching the line for a seven-length success.

'The win at Kilbeggan done his confidence good after a fall at Galway. Ruby was delighted with him and said he was a different horse today,' said Weld's travelling head lad Pat O'Brien.

King Of Tory (11/8f) completed the brace for Weld when also making all in the Deloitte Maiden under Pat Smullen. The son of Giant's Causeway was gaining an overdue success following recent good placed efforts.

Weld was unlucky not to register a treble when the fast-finishing Indian Pace (5/4f) was denied by a head in the Deloitte Handicap. Smullen reported that his mount was struck over the head in a tight finish when just failing to beat Mr Flatley in the five furlong contest.

Cluain Rua defied the vets when scoring in the www.psmlimited.com Handicap Hurdle. The gelding fractured a knee over a year ago at Tramore and trainer Liam Cusack revealed that the vets 'didn't hold out much hope'. But the son of Be My Native returned to the racecourse at Ballinrobe last weekend and was turned out quickly again to record a battling success here.
