Review BELLEWSTOWN 7TH JUL

Philip Rothwell was the star of the show at Bellewstown on Friday night as he saddled a treble at the Co Meath track.

The Wicklow handler took his total to five for the meeting having also notched a double at the venue on Wednesday.

Mission Possible (7/4f) got the ball rolling when running out a convincing winner of the C & M Construction Maiden Hurdle.

Philip Carberry sent his mount on two out and he stayed on strongly after the last to score by four-and-a-half lengths from Five Years On.

Rothwell also claimed the other maiden hurdle when Mr Blacktie benefited from a strong ride by Andrew McNamara in the San Dennigan & Co Maiden Hurdle.

The 3/1f went clear before the second last but had to pull out all the stops down the straight to hold off the challenge of Bawn Og by a length.

McNamara was also on board Spare Change (11/4) in the Seamus Mulvaney Crockafotha Handicap Hurdle.

The grey son of Portrait Gallery stayed on strongly after hitting the lead three out to see off Talkingtonbates by a length-and-a-half and complete the treble.

'We did have a frustrating few weeks with lots of seconds and it's nice to turn it around,' said Rothwell.

Fran Berry and John Oxx teamed up to record their second winner of the meeting when House Of Bourbon ran out an easy winner of the opening Murphy Sand and Gravel Maiden.

The Glebe House Stud Handicap produced a great finish with Angel's Camp narrowly prevailing in a tight photo finish after a final furlong duel with Ai Hawa.

Monahullan Prince wore down front-runner Monsheramie inside the final furlong to claim the first division of the www.tote.ie Handicap while the second division was claimed in good style by Lagniappe.

David Casey made a successful return to the saddle at Wexford when scoring on Anxious Moments in the Nick O'Donnell Memorial Claiming Race.

Casey had been out of action since breaking his wrist in a fall at the Punchestown festival.

Baltinglass trainer John Lennon notched a double as Glenthorpe and Rocksham both scored.

Michael Darcy gave Glenthorpe a strong ride to claim the Carlsberg Lager Handicap Hurdle while Rocksham made all in the concluding Wexford Hire Handicap (div2) under Seamus Heffernan.

There was drama at the first bend in that 1m5f contest when Galistic fell under Niall McCullagh. Pillar Rock (Johnny Murtagh) and Jazzy Dee (Davy Moran) were both hampered and unshipped their riders.

The first division of that event had seen Tango Foxtrot gain due reward for his consistency with an easy success.
