Meet And Greet showed the benefit of an outing at Punchestown earlier this month when returning to form in some style by landing the Goggin Buckley Hurdle at odds of 9/1 in Limerick.

The Oliver McKiernan-trained gelding missed all of last season but connections patience paid dividends as he made good headway to challenge early in the straight of this 2m4f event.

A fine leap at the last settled the issue as Phillip Enright’s mount kept on strongly on the run-in to beat Jigoro by four and a quarter lengths with 13/8 favourite Karl Des Tourelles finding no extra a further half-a-length away in third.

McKiernan said, “He was off for a long time with injury and we gave him a run in Punchestown but I came here today thinking he’d need another run. I was wrong and Phillip gave him a great ride.

“Phillip said beforehand that he would finish strong but we were wondering what pace would be in the race. They went quick enough and it was a good performance.

“If he stays sound is the big thing. He’s a gent of a horse and we love him.

“I’m delighted with that.”
