Jim Bolger professed to feeling a little under the weather in the winners’ enclosure but there is certainly no question mark about the health of his string at present as he sent out a seventh winner in the space of a week when McGuigan took the Bulmers Live At Leopardstown Handicap.
The son of Teofilo was part of a four-timer for the Coolcullen trainer when scoring over nine furlongs here last Thursday, and he successfully dropped back to six furlongs under a mandatory 5lb penalty.
The 5/1 co-favourite of four came home strongly and just held the late surge of Victorious Secret by a short-head. Tithonus made a bold bid to complete a hat-trick but faded in the closing stages to finish a length and a half back in third.
Bolger said, “He’s versatile and I wasn’t worried about coming back in trip. He’s in again next week (at Killarney on Wednesday).”
