The nine-furlong handicap resulted in a breakthrough victory for Smaoineamh Sile who benefitted from a well-judged ride by Dylan Browne McMonagle.
The chestnut daughter of Pride Of Dubai got over from a wide draw to lead after two furlongs and when she opened up early in the straight, the race was soon in the bag. She stayed on well to score by two and a quarter lengths from Pro Bono The 9/2 favourite Innamorare was another length and a quarter back in third just ahead of Philly’s Hope who completed the placings.
The winner, who made the frame in a few handicaps last year, was getting off the mark at the eleventh time of asking.
Winning trainer John McConnell said: “I'm delighted for Peter (Commane), he's been a very lucky owner for me, he's had three Sheilas and they've all won now.
“We were scratching our heads over whether we'd get this girl to win. She has the ability but she's a lady and likes to do things her own way.
“She hit the line well there and we're delighted. She probably came on from the run the last day and Dylan was really good on her, he gave her a peach of a ride.”
