Katie Walsh put in a good performance after she partnered Pagan Lightning to win the concluding race on today's card, the Willie Murphy Jewellers Downpatrick Ladies Flat Race for trainer John McConnell in the colours of Vernonica Byrne.
It was an evening to remember for McConnell who recorded an across the card double after he won the James P Cunningham Electrical Handicap in Galway with Ufallya
Winning trainer McConnell said afterwards: “That’s the owner’s first winner and I’m delighted for them. They’ve been great patrons of the yard but just had no luck. We’ve no immediate plans for the horse at this stage.”
