Livia takes the last for Bolger & Cleary The Jim Bolger trained Livia Galilei took the last at the Curragh today, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap, in good style under Rory Cleary. The 3yo daughter of Galileo (second winner of the day for that Stallion after Ursa Major) was sent to post at 11/4 for her first start in handicap company after putting in four good efforts in maidens, including finishing second last time out at Cork behind Montebell. Having tracked the leaders early on, she hit the front approaching the straight and asserted under pressure from over a furlong out. None of her rivals could go with her as she stayed on well inside the final furlong to score by two and three parts of a length at the line. Glamorous finished second for Fran Berry and Jessica Harrington at 11/4 while the 9/4 favourite Rising Wind could only manage third, two and three parts of a length back, under ten pound claimer Gary Halpin for trainer Kevin Prendergast. Winning trainer Jim Bolger said afterwards: "Little fish are sweet. Let’s hope she gets another chance. She appears to stay well and will go for another handicap now." Livia Galilei is a half-sister to four time winner Prince Golan as well as the Group 2 placed Oui Say Oui. While she is a full-sister to Miss Coco who won her maiden on her only start for David Wachman back in 2010. Donal Murphy & Gary Carson
