Licence looked an exciting prospect when running out an impressive winner of the Racing TV Maiden on his debut at Gowran this afternoon.

The Ger Lyons-trained colt was sent to post 4/5 favourite for the extended nine furlong contest and was produced to lead passing the two furlong pole by Colin Keane.

The son of Frankel, in the Juddmonte colours, soon asserted and went on to post a cosy six length success.

Shane Lyons said:- “He's a nice horse and has been very straight-forward since he came to us.

“We always thought he'd be a mile-and-a-half horse. He started learning his job pretty quick and Colin was adamant that he'd be fine over a mile-and-a-quarter.

“It was nice ground today but probably as quick as he'd want it. Colin said he definitely wouldn't want it good to firm so we'll watch that.

“We'll take him home and make a plan. The first box is ticked and he's done what we've seen at home.”
