Legend pleases his many backers Backed from around 9/2 earlier, to a returned 2/1, Tooreen Legend justified the confidence of his backers in style, as he came home a length and three parts in front in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Handicap at Dundalk under Billy Lee. Lee reported: "He travelled lovely. The older he's getting the better he's getting. He stays well and he loves it round here - a flat track and fast ground." A third course and distance win for Tommy Stack's Tooreen Legend, here the chestnut was looking good in the straight having tracked the leaders through much of the mile and a half trip. Lee brought his mount to the front in the final quarter mile before going on for the win over Break My Mind. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Gretzky (GB), trained by Matthew J. Smith, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race. (MG & EM)
