Leche storms home to win under owner Bustin Cafe Con Leche stormed home on the run-in to record a 40/1 shock in the two-mile handicap hurdle at Cork this afternoon. The Charles Byrnes-trained gelding had finished mid-division on his most recent outing at Navan and went to post a big price today. Ricky Bobby looked set for success when leading away from the second last but was chased down in the closing stages by Cafe Con Leche, and owner/rider Anthony Bustin, as they recorded a length-and-a-half win. Bustin said afterwards:- "I ride out in Charles' every day and I break horses in the evening. “I've always been into horses and my father David was a good rider but probably gave up prematurely. He rode professionally and was stable jockey to Michael Hourigan at the start. "I gave up riding and did a college course but being indoors wasn't very good for me! "I had another mare who won a maiden hurdle at Wexford (in 2021) and she is in foal now. All my family were there that day and they're here today as well, so it is brilliant." Byrnes added:- "I'm delighted for Anthony who works for me and he claimed the horse. “I recommended him for E10,000 as he was looking for a horse to ride and I thought this fella would give him plenty of fun. "He is a quirky horse who can take off after jumping the last and I'm delighted for Anthony. I don't think anyone had too much money on but it doesn't matter." (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
