Woodville Lady swooped late to land the spoils in the New Year Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
Alan Crowe nursed the mare into contention at the second last and she only needed minimum persuasion as she powered home from the last. Double Double had claimed long-time leader Tennis Cap at the last but couldn't hold the late surge of Woodville Lady.
Christy Roche 's charge came to lead inside the last 100 yards and recorded a cosy length-and-three-quarters success.
The winner had been bought by JP McManus following a promising third on her debut at Naas.
"I'm sorry I sold her last week!" joked Roche.
"I bought her as a foal. I was delighted to see her written up as one to watch. She's a great mare and it's nice she won."
The winner attracted some support in the ring, backed from 11/2 into 9/2.
7/2 second favourite Hot Prospect finished a well beaten ninth and was lame post race.
