Ladbrokes bet at Dundalk The betting ring at Dundalk, greatly weakened since it’s reincarnation as a polytrack venue in August 2007 due to a dispute over bookmakers pitch allocations, received a major boost this evening as Ladbrokes stood at the track for the first time. The regular Friday evening fixtures at the north-eastern venue play a significant part in betting shop turnover, and Ladbrokes have been constantly represented on track over the years in a hedging capacity. Ladbrokes representative Darragh Fitzpatrick said, "There are 37 meetings at Dundalk this year, and Ladbrokes feel we need to be represented here." Dundalk’s Chief Executive Jim Martin welcomed the news saying, “I’m delighted to have Ladbrokes betting in the ring. They are the biggest bookmakers in Britain, and anybody that wants to get a decent bet on can do so with them. ”They've had a pitch here since the polytrack opened but have just not used it up until now." There are 14 bookmakers in the Dundalk ring this evening, with Bar One Racing the other major player.
