The titanic battle between Colin Keane and Bill Lee for the Flat jockeys’ championship continues at Dundalk this evening where an eight-race card begins at 4.55pm.
Lee, who currently has a slender lead of one (89-88) in the title race, has five good rides on the polytrack while Keane has six mounts.
The pair go head-to-head in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden where Lee rides the favourite Smullen’s Pride while the betting suggests newcomer Las Cuatro is the chief threat for Keane. Tai Sing Yeh (5.30), Mickey The Steel (6.00) and Fascinating Shadow (8.30) are other good chances for Lee, while three-time champion Keane will have high hopes with Nel (6.30) who made a promising debut at Bellewstown last month.
The two divisions of the mile handicap on the card (7.30 & 8.00) are both confined to riders who have not ridden more than ten winners this season.
There are four fixtures remaining after tonight with Dundalk scheduled again next week on Wednesday and Friday while there are two turf meetings at Galway (Monday Oct 31) and Naas (Sunday Nov 6).
