Kyanna Van Buuren rode the second winner of her career on Kartayaz in the second division of the extended mile and two handicap at Down Royal.

The 15/2 shot was clear with Complete Fiction racing to the final furlong and was soon narrowly headed but rallied at the business end and fought back to win close home.

John McConnell 's four-year-old gelding beat the 11/2 runner-up by half a length with St Cianans Fire the 18/5 favourite, three lengths further back in third.

The jockey said: "He likes a challenge - it brought him along to the line nicely and he fought back hard. He got there well in the end.

"It was nice having a lead the whole way through the race as well.

"He won twice on the all-weather so we weren't sure about the turf but he has proved himself now."
