KINANE ON GRANDERA AS 14 DECLARED FOR KING GEORGE

The largest field for 25 years is due to line-up in the King George at Ascot on Saturday after 14 runners were declared today.

There are no surprise absentees with Alamshar and Kris Kin heading the three-year-old generation against the likes of Nayef, Falbrav and Sulamani.

Michael Kinane teams up with the Godolphin-trained Grandera in a bid to land his fourth King George.

Godolphin will be three-handed in their bid for a 100th Group 1 success, and spokesman Simon Crisford outlined plans on Attheraces this morning.

´We will run Sulamani (Frankie Dettori), Grandera (Mick Kinane) and Leadership (Jamie Spencer). Grandera will wear cheek-pieces, and I think he´s the first of our horses to be fitted with them.´

Crisford added, ´The ground was a bit quick and the pace not quite strong enough for Sulamani on his reappearance in France but even still you would have to say it was a disappointing run. He has made significant progress since, and we are hopeful of a big run.´

´We expect plenty of pace in the race but if there isn´t then Leadership will be up there to ensure a strongly run race.´
