Naas last Saturday, Cork today and up a furlong in trip it was the same pleasing result for Inxile and his connections and supporters as he benefited from a canny ride by Adrian Nicholls. Eleven to ten this morning into equivalent odds-on, Inxile may have looked a little vulnerable a furlong out before stamping his class on proceedings with a three length victory.
Nicholls saved a bit in the early stages on the six-year-old equipped with cheek-pieces and he was pressed at the furlong pole by Katla (from her wide draw in one) and others. However inside the last Inxile stretched on to score convincingly. Like Inxile, Dawn Eclipse was drawn high, right on the rail in eleven, and she ran a huge race to snatch the third place at odds of 66/1.
Successful trainer and father of the winning rider, Dandy Nicholls, clothed in a track-suit after "leaving his suit in the car at home," said of Inxile: "He came back from Dubai fit and well.
"He wouldn't want the ground much quicker than today and he's likely to be back in Ireland for the Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh on Guineas weekend."
