Impact Warrior justified 5/4 favouritism in the Irish EBF Auction Series Race.

A little sluggish from stalls on this first outing, the winner was soon second as Goa Gajah made the running. This pair had the race to themselves inside the final quarter-mile and the strong-travelling winner winner gained a narrow advantage a furlong-and-a-half out. Goa Gajah did not go down without a fight but Impact Warrior got home by half a length under Bill Lee.

Winning trainer Paddy Twomey said, “It was a fair effort on her first run getting just 1lb from an 88 rated colt who was a previous winner. I think she is a nice filly.

“I said to Martin Schwartz that I don’t really train first time out two-year-old winners but I thought if I was going to have one it might be her.

“She was ready to run today and I’m delighted the way it went. She is in the Goffs Million and that is a logical target for her. We’ll see how she comes out of that.

“I have her in the Fillies Mile and the Marcel Boussac — that closes tomorrow. I think she is decent and she is well bred. She is straightforward and tough.”
