Iberique Du Seuil caused something of a mild surprise when arriving late to win the Grade 2 Donohue Marquees Juvenile Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
The Gordon Elliott trained horse, last seen when seventh in the Boodles at Cheltenham, stalked his rivals under Jack Kennedy before being produced with a strong run close home.
"We went a good gallop the whole way and I was always happy, said Kennedy.
"He tends to switch off and keep a bit for himself, so it suited me not to get there too early".
“That was great and it's nice to get a winner, we've had a winner each day and it's very important,” said Elliott.
“Jack gave him a lovely ride and I'd say getting tightened up turning in probably suited him.
“It's great for Noel and Valerie at their local track, they are great supporters so it's brilliant.
“We thought before today we'd be looking at some like the Lartigue at Listowel. I'd imagine we could look at the Galway Hurdle.
“He likes that nice ground and looked to travel a bit better on it.”
