Dedillon came with a strong surge to claim the apprentice handicap at Cork for trainer Andy Slattery.

The Dylan Thomas mare was settled behind the leaders by Amy Jo Hayes before being asked for an effort passing the two pole.

She picked up well to lead inside the final furlong and post a length-and-a-half success over Zahee

The 10/1 shot was recording her fourth career victory and it was a second winning ride for Hayes.

"She had three wins last year and I thought she was a bit high in the handicap but she did it well today,” said Slattery.

“She won at the Galway festival last year and we'll tip away now - she is in again at Gowran on Wednesday and will probably go.

"Amy Jo is with me for the last two years and that's her second winner. She gave her a lovely ride as I thought in an apprentice race, they would go too hard. She usually makes the running and I told her to take a lead."
