Sixth to previous race winner Sa Fureur in a course maiden earlier in the month, American Money (12/1) made a winning start in handicaps when landing the 80-95 rated contest over 2m4f.
Kieren Buckley 's mount moved into third two out and gained a narrow lead over Glenabo Bridge at the last with Bint Freya also on the premises in third . Despite edging left on the run-in (no alteration after an enquiry), the Westerner gelding stayed on well enough to hold Glenabo Bridge by a length with a further length and three-quarters back to Bint Freya.
It was a tenth winner of the campaign for Devon native Buckley who's based with Gavin Cromwell.
The winning six-year-old is trained by Eddie and Patrick Harty.
Eddie Harty commented: "It was nice, he has improved. He's a typical Westerner, no matter what you teach them they have to learn themselves."
“He has improved from run to run and it was a nice run here the last day. He just crept into a 0-95 but won't the next time.
“He ground it out and that's typical Westerner, the tougher the conditions the better they seem to go.
“He's a nice horse but we have no great plans for him. We'll have to look at the next division up now and he's a nice fun horse. He'll make a nice chaser in time and he will improve.
“He was bred by a very good friend of mine, Bobby Guiry, who died last year so it's nice to keep the legacy going.”
