Out of a Sea The Stars mare and named after a nineteenth century German astronomer, Caroline Herschel was an emphatic debut winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

A drifter on the show from 7s out to 14/1, there had nonetheless been money around at fancy prices in the morning for Jessicaa Harrington’s daughter of Zoffany and she came from well off the pace to lead a furlong out.

The rangy chestnut stayed on well on the soft terrain (13mm of overnight rain) to score by three and a half lengths from Comfort Zone (3/1) with the 11/10 favourite Sun King another length and a quarter back in third spot.

The winner is a half-sister to Stela Star who landed the Group 3 Killavullan Stakes for Tom Mullins in 2019.

Winning rider Nathan Crosse remarked: "It was a very good performance first time.

She broke well and I thought we went very hard on that ground and I couldn't really go with them and left her find her feet. Turning in we picked up again and once I gave her a shove, she picked up the bridle and did it nicely going away.

"She is a very big filly so obviously hasn't run until the back end of the year but at the start of next year she'll be a lovely filly."
