Trainer Michael Halford and jockey Gary Carroll combined to take the opening Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Maiden this evening with 10/1 shot Desert Romance
Carroll produced the Green Desert gelding to lead from over one furlong out and kept on well to post a half a length victory over long time leader Parabola and Declan McDonogh.
A delighted Halford reported afterwards: "He has always shown us plenty of ability, he ran well here the last day he just got a bit tired."
"He's come on from that and he got a nice clear run this evening. He looked to have an easy enough time of it out there."
"I'm delighted for the owner Paul Redmond as he has been so patient with him and it was just great to get the win. We'll see what the handicapper does before we make any plans."
