Great Khan was the clear-cut winner of the handicap chase on Ballinrobe's card for Edward O'Grady.

He tanked into the lead approaching the final couple of fences and had Wolfofallstreets and Cluan Dara toiling before the last.

A nimble jump at that one saw him draw clear and he won as he pleased by nine lengths to justify 3/1 favouritism. Wolfofallstreets finished second at 10/3 and was 12 lengths clear of Cluan Dara (10/3).

Great Khan, a former maiden hurdle winner, was getting off the mark over fences on his 21st crack at them. He had been placed nine times over them, though, so certainly wasn't winning out of turn.

Jockey Darragh O'Keeffe said: “He travelled away well and he jumped okay bar the third last.

“It’s nice to get his head in front over fences.”
