Grand Paradis stays on strongly to win Beginners Chase Grand Paradis put in a much improved display of jumping to see off odds on favourite Aione in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase at Cork. Gordon Elliott's grey, last seen when pulling up in the Festival Plate at Cheltenham last month, was always front rank and stayed on powerfully once challenged. Jumping had been his downfall on previous runs but he looked a reformed character on this occasion. Dropping back into novice company having taken on more experienced handicappers last time was probably very much in his favour. The favourite Aione was in trouble early in the straight but found plenty once Rachael Blackmore asked for an effort. However, a big jump at the last by the Elliott trained runner sealed the race and from there, there was only ever going to be one winner. Winning jockey Jordan Gainford said; "everything happened a bit quick for him at Cheltenham but he had been banging on the door previously and was caught by some nice horses. It was my first time riding him today and it was nice to get his head in front. "He jumped well, travelled and loved being in front. Getting his head in front today will be of benefit."
