A great weekend of action is in store both at home and abroad with racing on the domestic front this afternoon at Gowran Park, featuring the PWC Champion Chase, plus a Flat card at Killarney.
The Willie Mullins-trained Easy Game and Kemboy renew rivalry in the 2m4f Grade 2 highlight at Gowran Park after filling the first two places at Listowel recently, while the champion trainer also runs Franco De Port The Gordon Elliott-trained pair Battleoverdoyen and Hurricane Georgie together with Tom McCourt's Dollar Value complete a six-runner field.
The going at Gowran Park is currently good to yielding, yielding in places, with a dry and cool day forecast. The first on an eight-race card commences at 1.45pm with the PWC Champion Chase scheduled for 4.02pm.
The going is soft ahead of a seven-race Flat card at Killarney starting at 1.55pm. There was 9mm of rain yesterday morning at the County Kerry track but the afternoon was dry and windy. There is the possibility of some scattered showers today.
The focus turns to jumping at Killarney tomorrow with the National Hunt going described as good to yielding, while Tipperary hosts it’s ‘Super Sunday’ mixed card tomorrow with Stakes races both on the flat and over jumps.
Following 8mm of rain in the past 24 hours, Tipperary is now soft (Flat) and yielding, good to yielding in places (National Hunt). The forecast is mainly dry.
Meanwhile there is plenty of Irish interest abroad with a strong team heading to Longchamp this weekend, headed today by Kyprios in the Group 1 Qatar Prix du Cadran.
The Dermot Weld-trained Homeless Songs also bids to regain winning ways in the Group 1 Royal Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.
