Golden Shoe digs deepest at Galway Back in action just four days after his Down Royal runner-up effort behind Dash Back, Golden Shoe (8s into 13/2) went a place better under Chris Hayes in the Caulfield Industrial Athlone Handicap at Galway. The victorious Footstepsinthesand gelding was never far from the pace. He had to dig very deep in the straight to eventually catch Crystal Morning, a head being the margin between the pair at the line. He's Got Rhythm kept on quite well to be half a length back in third whilst it was only a length and a quarter and three parts of a length back to Cheval Rouge and Maundy Money. Jim Gorman trains Golden Shoe for his Wexford-based patrons, Bill and Penny Foley and he said: "We were afraid of the ground and Chris said he just about got away with it." (TW & EM)
