Willie Mullins has his principal summer horses aimed at Galway's festival next week but managed three wins from four runners at Limerick today, as Mi Lighthouse (6/1) completing the treble in the Patrickswell Novice Chase.
There had been three jockey changes from the five-runners as Bryan Cooper (injured), Jack Kennedy (sore but ok, following a fall today) and Simon Torrens (stood down yesterday) on Siberian Prince Tullybeg and Chinx Of Light respectively, were replaced by Denis O'Regan, Jordan Gainford and Brian Hayes.
Favourite Chinx Of Light (6/5f) was a sixth-fence faller and later, Mi Lighthouse moved past leader Siberian Prince at the second last. The winner maintained her gallop to the line, holding Siberian Prince by a neck.
Mullins' earlier winners were with Dads Lad under Brian Hayes, and the Paul Townend-partnered Authorized Art Following his double on Mi Lighthouse, Townend reported “she enjoys jumping fences, albeit she was sticky early today.
“She warmed up to it well, she flew the second last and had a good look around after landing in front over the last. I thought she was idling but when the other horse came, she was pulling out again.
“The race fell apart when she won previously at Tramore and the step up in trip with the step up in grade helped her today.”
