Jessica Harrington is eyeing the Galway Hurdle as a long-term target for recent Navan winner Maller Tree.

The five-year opened his account at the second time of asking over timber on ground softer than ideal last time and connections are looking forward to running him on a sounder surface.

The Karinga Bay gelding had shown plenty of ability in bumpers and Harrington believes he has a bright future over hurdles.

“He'll probably go to the next Naas meeting and we'll look at Fairyhouse and Punchestown with him,” said the Moone trainer.

“I think he could make up into a Galway Hurdle horse as he's got speed but also stays.”
