Second in the race last year Freewheelin Dylan went a place better in the Kilsaran Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan.
Victorious twelve months back Full Cry had to settle for third this time as Kilkishen got closest to now dual course and distance scorer Freewheelin Dylan.
Kevin Sexton was in the plate on the Dermot McLoughlin-trained 8/1 winner, and he was looking good from some way out, indeed he asserted from two out and was eased close home.
The margin of superiority at the line was five and a half lengths.
“Kevin said he gained lengths at his fences. He was just chinned in this race last year and he won her before. He travels, he jumps and he stays well," said McLoughlin.
“Once the ground doesn’t go bottomless we’ll keep tipping away with him.”
The Stewards interviewed C.D. Timmons, rider of Aasleagh Dawn concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that C.D. Timmons was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended C.D. Timmons for 1 raceday.
The Stewards interviewed R.J. Condon, rider of Kilkishen, concerning his use of the whip during this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that R.J. Condon was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken into consideration his previous record, the Stewards suspended R.J. Condon for 2 racedays.
A. Ring, rider of Mossy White trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Mossy White, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
