Newcomer Foundry made an impressive debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden as he ran out a five and a half length winner under Seamie Heffernan for Aidan O’Brien.
The Jim Bolger trained Tonabrocky attempted to make all under Rory Cleary as the winner raced in second for much of the contest.
The son of Galileo, who was sent off at 9/2, hit the front under two furlongs out and was soon ridden clear, stretching on to record and easy success.
Tonabrocky kept on to take second at 11/2 while newcomer Won Diamond was a further length and a half back in third for Gary Carroll and Mick Halford at 9/1 (backed from 16/1 this morning).
The Kevin Prendergast trained Cottrell was sent off the 4/1 favourite under Chris Hayes but he could only manage seventh.
Winning rider Seamie Heffernan said afterwards: "You couldn't ask him to be anymore impressive.
"It's heavy ground and a backend maiden - some of them can be very good and some can be very bad. I hope he is one of the better ones."
The winner, who is a half-brother to two time winning stable-mate Unanimous, holds entries in next year's Irish Derby as well as the Epsom Derby.
