Fortune favours Pats Choice in Wexford chase Pats Choice (13/2) was the fortunate winner of Wexford's Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase today, capitalising on a final-fence unseat by eight lengths leader Good As Hell. Good As Hell had the measure of his rivals including clear second-best Pats Choice approaching the last but came 'up' early at the last, jumped left and unseated Evan Dwan, who was filling in for stood-down Niall Moore. Pats Choice was left clear and then beat runner-up Clever Currency by 17 lengths to provide winning trainer Gordon Elliott with an 18th winner in the last 21 days. Successful jockey Michael O’Sullivan, with his third win since returning from a collarbone injury eight days ago, reported “obviously we had a bit of luck - he was closing all the way but probably wouldn’t have got there. “He was hanging quite badly coming down the hill so I was at pains to keep him straight and going forward. In fairness to the horse he was picking up after the second last and he jumped very well. “They went quick early and he was a bit slow away. He’s a bit of a tricky customer but has got his day and probably deserved it. Hopefully now that he has got his head in front he’ll improve for it.” Quotes from Alan Magee
