Ken Condon and Shane Foley teamed-up to take the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden with Areille
Fourth on debut at Fairyhouse last month, the daughter of The Last Lion was one of the market leaders this afternoon and was sent off a 2/1 chance in the colours of Treadstone Bloodstock Ltd.
Settled behind the leaders on the inner, the bay victor was switched off the rail on the approach to the straight and was soon ridden to challenge on the outer.
In front inside the final 150 yards, she kept on well from there to score by a length-and-three-parts at the line. Arges who was returned the 7/4 favourite, couldn't hold off the winner inside the final furlong and had to settle for second under Robbie Colgan for John Murphy.
The front pair were two lengths clear of It Might Be You (20s to 14s) in third.
Foley, who was narrowly denied aboard The Blue Brilliant in the Prix de Psyche at Deauville yesterday, said: "She did it nicely and didn't mind the slow ground.
"She's a fine big filly. She's a 'next year' filly I'd say, but she's done that well."
