Philip Fenton recorded his first success since November of 2014, as his Secret Cargo sprang a surprise in the Introducing Racing TV Handicap Hurdle.
Banned from training for three years after being found in possession of anabolic steroids, Fenton had his first runner since the ban ended in July.
A good second at Wexford on his penultimate start, Secret Cargo since disappointed at Naas, and was sent off at 25/1 this afternoon, on what was his debut in handicap company.
Ridden by Brian Hayes, he came with his challenge on the outer from two out, and jumped to the front at the last, going on to prevail by two and three parts of a length. Lord Boru (7/2) finished second under Phillip Enright for John Joe Walsh, while the 11/4 favourite Peculiar Genius (from 7/2), was another length and three parts back in third.
Fenton said afterwards: "Little fish are sweet. He has some bit of a future and he is big enough to jump a fence.
"Funnily enough the time (the ban) went by quick enough. I was never in any doubt that I'd return to training. We have five or six in, and it's enough to keep the show on the road."
