Fame claims bumper with minimum of fuss Fameaftertheglory justified his short price when running out a cosy winner of the concluding bumper at Wexford this afternoon. The Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding had been runner-up in a couple of bumpers back in the spring having won a point-to-point last December. He went to post a well backed 8/13 shot today and made most of the running in the two-miler, only headed briefly after half a mile when the saddle slipped on outsider Oranmore. Patrick Mullins only had to shake up Fameaftertheglory in the closing stages to secure a two-and-three-parts-of-a-length victory over Where It All Began. Mullins said:- "It was very straightforward. His form was very good, and Gavin said to just keep it simple. “He is a big strong galloping horse and I think Gavin will win plenty of races with him. He loved that ground and a step-up in trip would be no problem for him. He was a very straightforward ride." Mykhaylo Chaybyn had a rough passage around on Oranmore without irons and did well to get him pulled up passing the winning post. (Quotes by Donal Murphy)
