Euphrasia was always in the front rank in the mile and one fillies’ maiden at the Curragh and Gary Carroll’s mount relished the heavy underfoot conditions to forge clear two furlongs out for trainer Joseph Murphy.

The three-year-old was sent off 10/1 on the back of a disappointing performance at Dundalk’s polytrack, but made no mistake here when getting off the mark by eight lengths.

John Oxx supplied the runner-up Kalaroa (3/1) and the third If Or When (2/1f) with the former particularly eyecatching as he made up a lot of ground at the business end on debut.

Joseph Murphy Junior said of the winner: “It’s unlikely that she’ll run again this year. She seems to handle the conditions very well.

“Hopefully she can go for a premier handicap or a Listed race next year. She didn’t get theclearest of passages at Killarney [third on September 4].

“She’s a big immature filly and is improving all the time.”
