Erskine back in action with win over hurdles Lord Erskine made the most of a lenient looking hurdles mark when scoring at Sligo this afternoon. Harry Roger's charge was a big improver on the Flat last year, winning three culminating in the Irish Cesarewitch at Navan in November. He was sent to post the 15/8 favourite on his return to action today and was produced by Johnny Burke to challenge at the final flight. The Fast Company gelding went on on the run-in to record a three-length success over The Last Indian. “He was my last winner and it's nice to get one on the board again. There was probably only the two of them in it (the race),” said Rogers. “He might run on Thursday at Tipperary if he gets in. He's first reserve at Naas tomorrow but we'll probably leave him alone. “He's 18 in the ballot at Tipperary but that might bring him up a bit. “We'll see what the handicapper does. He'll probably stay over hurdles for a while. He wants a dig in the ground and he wouldn't want it any quicker than that. “Hopefully he might end up in Galway if all goes well, that's the main plan. Ideally if he could scrape into the amateur race.”
