Prairie Dancer dug deep to win off top-weight in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase at Thurles.

Aidan Kelly produced his mount to lead over the second last in the extended two-and-a-half mile contest but he looked booked for third when That's About Right and Prince Of Air swept past turning for home.

The Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding stuck to his guns in the straight though and was backed challenging going to the final fence.

That's About Right had a narrow advantage on the run-in but Prairie Dancer found more late on to get up for a length success at odds of 10/1.

The winner had been well beaten on his two most recent outings on the Flat but had won when last seen over fences at Downpatrick in late August.

Kelly said afterwards:- "I was there probably a mile too soon.

“I was in front at the second-last when he pulled up a bit but when I got after him, he battled back. He had top weight but battled it out well.

"I had previously ridden for Joseph (O'Brien) on Mr McManus-owned horses so that is my first 'outside' ride for him and is my first winner. It is great to get it."
