Erosandpsyche (Evens fav) gained his third win over Tipperary’s five-furlong sprint course when taking the Botanica International Race with the minimum of fuss.

The Sepoy gelding had finished narrowly ahead of Moss Tucker when winning a premier handicap at Cork last month and confirmed the form with that rival on 3lb better terms here.

Always prominent, he led a furlong and a half out and Billy Lee didn’t have to be overly hard on him to account for his old rival by a length and a half.

Winning trainer Paddy Twomey said: “This race was in the calendar and he didn’t get a penalty for winning a valuable handicap in Cork the last day. It was hard to pass.

“I think he likes a flat track. Cork and here play to his strengths.

“He likes to be fresh and he likes to be well. He’s been in good form.

“I thought the two times he ran in the Curragh he didn’t just get home the last 100 yards. I’d say on a flat track like Cork six would be an option.

“I would imagine he will come back here for the Abergwaun (August 26) and if that goes well we will have to come up with another plan.”
