Fakir D'alene enjoyed a hack around Down Royal as he took the beginners' chase by 32 lengths.

The 2/1 favourite brought up a double for Gordon Elliott and Denis O'Regan.

He had his rivals toiling before the penultimate flight and sauntered in as he pleased.

The somewhat remote places were occupied by Now Where Or When (8/1) in second and Bold Assassin (14/1) in third.

O'Regan said: "He jumps well and had experience from the last day. I think he is going to be a better chaser than a hurdler.

"Obviously the blinkers helped, they just kept him focused throughout. He's not ungenuine or anything.

"I thought I was going a good old gallop on him but he wants further.

"He'll make into a nice three mile handicap chaser."
