Easy to back Daisy lands double for Mullins Daisy's Gift was easy to back in the concluding bumper but ran out an impressive winner on her debut, giving Willie Mullins a double at Thurles today. The Presenting mare had been as short as 15/8 this morning but opened 9/2 on course and was returned a 5/1 shot. The Housekeeper took them along in the two-miler but was headed by Deise Dasher going across the top bend. The new leader was tackled early in the straight by Daisy's Gift and Patrick Mullins sent his mount on with over a furlong to run. She pulled clear in good style in the closing stages to post a nine-length winning margin. Unusually for one of Mullins' runners she wasn't particularly well fancied and the trainer said afterwards:- “She hadn't been working that well but she looks a nice mare there and we'll look for a mares bumper for her. “We'll probably go jumping with her then and she should be one for the summer being by Presenting.” Willie Mullins had also struck earlier on the card with Raise Hell. As a result of the double Stan James cut the champion trainer to 4/7 from 4/6 to land 200 winners in a national hunt season. Lady Of Glencoe was sent off the 7/2 favourite for the finale but was well beaten back in eleventh place. (Additional reporting by Alan Magee)
