The first race of Tramore’s four-day festival looked a match on paper between Dysart Dancer and Storm Away and so it proved as Dysart Dancer came out on top after a battle to the line.
This contest was a two-mile maiden for lady riders and Storm Away under Adrienne Foley was sent off the 9/10 favourite to further improve trainer Pat Flynn’s 23 per cent strike-rate on the flat at Tramore. Dysart Dancer had Katie Walsh in the saddle for Willie Mullins and was returned at 7/4.
Dysart Dancer led before Storm Away eased past her with five furlongs to race. From there it was nip and tuck, but round the home bend Storm Away still held the advantage.
Katie Walsh though drove Dysart Dancer past her rival inside the last 100 yards to score by three parts of a length.
“She’s in a beginners’ chase here on Saturday, but I think we’ll skip that. She might go over fences soon. She’s big enough and jumps them well and has schooled well over them,” trainer Willie Mullins said.
"She might still be well handicapped over hurdles. She could go for a handicap at one of the big festivals.”
This was Katie Walsh’s first winner since recently marrying Ross O’Sullivan.
