Co Galway trainer Yvonne Dunleavy saddled 11/4 favourite Carheenlea to land the Tom McCormack Memorial Cup Maiden Hurdle under John Cullen in the colours of the trainer’s husband Patrick Dunleavy.
Winning trainer Dunleavy stated, “He has been very unlucky and he deserved to win here today, he’s been knocking on door for awhile now. He won his point to point first time out at Belclare last season. We will bring him to Galway for a novice hurdle. I think he’s entitled to have his chance after that.”
