Favourite backers finally got off the mark in the last race at Down Royal as the 4/6 shot, Baby Grey took the Albert Bartlett point-to-point bumper under Jane Mangan for Gordon Elliott (double on the day after Bondage won the third).
The four-year-old son of Act One was beaten in two bumpers last year at Roscommon and Fairyhouse before going down the point-to-point route.
He won on his point-to-point debut at Kirkstown in March and he followed up on his next start at Tallanstown last month.
Having tracked the leader, Sparkling Wine for much of the contest, he was on terms three furlongs out before he went clear in the final furlong, staying on well to win easily by four and a quarter lengths. Wither Yenot took second under Pat Turley for Brian Hamilton at 10/3 while the John 'Shark' Hanlon duo of Sparkling Wine and Gary trailed home in third and fourth.
Gordon Elliott said afterwards; "He is what he is and he'll run away over the summer and he will get a bit further.
"It’s good to get a winner for the boys (winning owners the Barstool Prophets Syndicate) as they were with me when I had my first winner."
The winner is a half-brother to the Mouse Morris trained, Rathlin, who is a Grade 2 winner over fences.
