Domination under man-of-the-moment Davy Russell, registered his eighth career win when taking the Charleville Cheese Beginners Chase at Limerick today on his chase debut, scoring a double on the day for his trainer Charles Byrnes.

Gold Cup hero Russell is on the crest of a wave at present and having combined with Byrnes for a win at the venue yesterday, followed up on 95 rated Flat performer who had a slice of luck on his side when nearest pursuer Ludo Et Emergo exited at the final fence.

Afterwards Byrnes, whose Once And Always earlier won a handicap hurdle, stated “we schooled him over fences at Leopardstown after racing before Cheltenham and while he jumped a little slow early on then, he was very good over the last four or five fences and jumped well today.

“He is much better on good to firm so I was concerned about the ground and while he is rated 95 on the Flat, today's win opens more doors for him. I don't know what is coming up but he is a 'summer novice' now and could go for a winners' of one next.”
