Trainer Philip Dempsey won with consecutive runners today as his Clonbury Bridge (11/2) landed Fairyhouse’s Book Your Easter Early Bird Tickets Handicap Chase, under jockey Charlie O’Dwyer.

Racing prominently throughout, O’Dwyer produced the nine-year-old to lead at the second-last before staying on well to beat Wine And Dine by a length, for a fifth career win.

Dempsey, whose Australian-based Flat jockey son Luke registered a first Group winner at Hanging Rock on December 27, reported “that was great - Clonbury Bridge is a great little horse and the lads (CJ & T Syndicate) have had some fun with him. He’s a right little horse.

“He had a lovely run in Navan (in November) and where he really ran well over two miles and Gavin Cromwell’s horse that won it, Midnight It Is, ran well in the Dan Moore here the other day.

“He is what he is and there is no big plan or anything, but sure we’ll find something next.”

Trainer Dempsey's previous runner Hillsdale also scored at Clonmel yesterday.
