Dedigout scores on first start over hurdles On his first start over hurdles the Dedigout landed the spoils in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle for his trainer Tony Martin with Davy Russell aboard. Having finished second in a point-to-point at Dungarvan in February the son of Bob Back filled the runner-up spot again on his racecourse debut in a bumper behind the smart Shu Lewis at Punchestown in May. In the colours of Gigginstown House Stud, the winner was sent to post the 5/4 favourite and didn't let supporters down. The winner made headway into third at the second last and was pushed along entering the straight behind the leader Not For Converting. However he responded well to his jockeys urgings and challenged at the last before staying on best on the run-in to score by three and three parts of a length. Not For Converting took second under Patrick Mullins at 4/1 while Carrig Millie completed the placings a further length and a half back in third at 9/2 for Barry Geraghty and Michael Cullen. Winning trainer Tony Martin said afterwards: "We will try and find a winners of one for him now over two and a half miles plus. The one thing he does is stay and he’ll probably make a nice staying chaser in time." Winning rider Davy Russell was completing a double on the card having earlier scored with Last Instalment.
